Earlier this decade, Hoover made headlines for state championships and a television show on MTV.
Friday night, the Bucs made headlines for their decision to go for two, instead of a tie and possible overtime in the 6A championship game against Prattville.
Hoover head coach Josh Niblett rolled-the-dice and went for two with :47 to go in regulation after pulling within one-point of Prattville on a Connor Short touchdown run, which was his third in the game. The Prattville defense then stepped-up and stopped Short's 2-point conversion pass to Jarrett Brown at the 3-yard line for the 35-34 win.
You can watch the end of the game in the al.com highlight package below.
The win gave Prattville its first title since 2008, and a 3-2 advantage in championship game match-ups against Hoover.
