Daphne High School’s T.J. Yeldon is already enrolled at Alabama, but on Wednesday he had to skip class to pick-upthe state's top high school football award.

Yeldon has been named Alabama’s Mr. Football.

The running back graduated in December from Daphne High following a 2,200-yard, 31-touchdown season.

Yeldon said he arrived Wednesday confident that Hueytown quarterback Jameis Winston would win
Mr. Football.  Yeldon is the first running back to win it since Carnell Williams of Etowah in 2000.

Yeldon ran for 2,196 yards this season, including two 300-yard games. As a junior, he had 1,110 yards and 18 TDs to help Daphne win a state championship.
