Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame Inducts Class of 2006

Four of the nine individuals inducted as the 16th Class of the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame have roots in high school football.

Inducted during a banquet and induction ceremony in Montgomery last week were George Cochran, who coached Eufaula to state championships in 1978 and 1981; Jackie Ferguson who led Hazelwood's football and track teams to state championships in 1985-86, 1988-89 and 1989-90; Jim Hubbert, who coached at Ohatchee, Oxford, Bibb County, Lanett and Maplesville, and led Maplesville to the state title in 1986; and Jack Ray who led Wetkumpka High to three undefeated seasons while compiling a 82-40-8 record.
